Judy grew up in rural Bettsville, Ohio. In her junior year of high school she picked up a racquet to play tennis for the first time and
In less than 2 years, Judy perfected her skills and learned the game. She was accepted at Bowling Green State University and earned a position on NCAA Division I Women's Team. During her college years she was selected to compete with the Junior Whitman Cup Team that traveled regionally. She became a state and nationally ranked USPTA player in singles and doubles. While still in college, her teaching career began at Ramey Tennis School where she was asked to be a counselor and instructor after her freshman year of college. The second summer, Judy organized her own tennis clinics that ran throughout northwest Ohio; the Toledo and Bowling Green area. After college, Judy moved to Findlay, Ohio, where she became the Head Professional at the Findlay Racquet Club. It wasn't until the terrible stormy winter of 1981 that Judy decided to leave Ohio and pursue her career in year round sunny Florida.from that point on, tennis became her life.
She began her Florida career as the first Head Tennis Professional at the Brooksville Golf and Country Club and also was an assistant golf professional in the pro shop. Judy was employed by and helped develop the tennis programs at the River Crossing Tennis Club of New Port Richey, Sugarmill Woods Oak Village Tennis Center of Homossasa, GlenLakes and Silverthorn Country Clubs of Hernando County. She also developed and ran the Hernando County Recreation Tennis Program for many, many years. Judy is certified at the highest degree by the USPTA holding the ELITE status. In 2015 she received her 30 years of service pin.
Even with over 40+ years of experience teaching tennis, Judy still attends educational seminars and is constantly tweaking her techniques of instruction. Tennis has changed throughout the years and she insists on staying current with the times. Backed by the community and the USPTA, she teaches new players and professionals from ages 3 to 90.
Southern Hills Plantation Club has now become her newest passion. She is ready to grow the tennis program and provide quality service and attention to SHP members.
